This novel, over 900 pages long, could easily have been 2 novels, just couldn't find the perfect place to break it without leaving the readers hanging, and I don't like an unfinished story. All the characters from the previous novels are included, and a few new ones. This story does contain some light BDSM. Enjoy…
She forced herself to look away from the awesome marine views and scanned the rest of the area around them. Dare had told her she should always do that first but being ADD she’d gotten distracted. Then again she was pretty sure that she was safe with Hunter, despite the fact that he’d already killed her once….
They were standing on top of an old abandoned military bunker. You wouldn’t have known unless you walked to the edge and looked down onto the cement courtyards, numerous large brick decks and stairways leading to rooms and hallways below them. She looked around again then floated herself after Hunter down the narrow steep stairs to the open courtyard beneath them.
“I totally would have hung out here when I was a kid,” she said as she followed him inside exploring the different rooms and long hallways. Several of the rooms had bars on the windows and huge sliding steel doors which the park had secured opened so nobody would become trapped inside. “What a great place to get high,” earned her a disapproving glare from The-Hunter-Of-All-Things-Illegal.
“What?” Kylie propped her hands on her hips, “You do know that it’s now legal to smoke weed in this state? You know that right? The voters have spoken.”
Hunter was silent a moment then said very calmly, “It’s a gateway drug.”
Kylie ignored him because…he was right. She wrapped her fingers around one of the thick cold bars on a small window. “Wow, imagine, someone may have actually been locked up in here once upon a time, that’s pretty creepy. It’s so small.”
Hunter nodded remembering his midnight visits to some of those who’d been locked up back in the day when it was an active military base. Then there were those he brought here, which were much more recent throughout the last decades of his Guardian’s summoning.
He decided against telling her that he’d killed in the very spot in which she now stood. Now was not the time to make her think about death – by his hand. As he started out of the room he heard her ask.
“So do you bring all your dates here?”
He stopped, turned to her with a smile in his eyes. She was cute but she wasn’t going to cut him any slack. “See that heavy ring attached to the wall over there?”
“Yeah.”
“The last woman I brought here found herself chained to that ring.”
Kylie looked from Hunter to the ring and back without moving her head.
As she contemplated whether he was into kinky feeding habits, BDSM or maybe he just enjoyed killing women, Hunter answered her question. “She was a target and I needed some intel’,” he turned and began walking ahead of her again leaving the rest unsaid. He’d walked about ten paces before he added casually, “Although if you’re interested in trying a walk on the wild side I’m sure I could be accommodating – I have a very strong feeling you could use some discipline in your life.”
“Whatever,” came out sharp and sarcastic, obviously he was reading her mind. She’d normally have winced at hearing her quick acerbic retort but she was too busy thinking of possibilities. His husky laugh touched her in places she wouldn’t mind him dragging his tongue. She drew a deep breath as she began to tingle in all the right places.
Hunter stopped walking, turned, and looked at her – hard.
What the hell? Kylie was knee deep in wicked thoughts and almost walked right into him. She threw up her hands to keep from colliding into his massive chest. “What?” she almost tripped over her own feet trying to pull up short. She blinked guilt from her eyes as quickly as it appeared but the smirk on her lips remained a fraction of a second too long.

I have read this series and it's pretty good once you get past the abundance of typos, which can make it difficult to read. The characters are interesting and these vampires are very different than the usual ones, (I'm still partial to Raphael in Vampires in America at least his mate Cyn has some spunk to her). These guardians are arrogant, and unable to deal with the emotions of their "soul mates". I love Aerik and Zak and especially Cole and Torin, but I don't like the way Dare treats Tiannia (like a child, but she acts like one) she can't do anything without his permission, she can't even have a thought because he's always in her head listening. In some ways he's more respectful to Kylie than his wife. She and Kylie act more like 15 than 20. Neither has had a chance to grow up especially Tiannia. If Dare doesn't get his way he puts her to sleep, erases her thoughts so he doesn't have to deal with it. I think he needed a strong woman who could match him and not cower when he doesn't like something and especially has a very strong mind. Tiannia is way too easily manipulated and so easy to get over on it's sickening. Kylie I like her she has spirit and she's not too crazy about the way Dare treats her best friend either. Jamie and Kayla hold their own pretty good and Aerik and Zak seem to have more respect for them than Dare does for his mate. And I just love Cole he's so real and down to earth and too funny but a kick-ass. The women could use some spunk, and backbone when dealing with them. The difference is that in most vampire novels they like their women, smart, and not afraid to kick ass, the vampire guardians like docile and wimpy. The story line is good, the introduction of new characters ok if it leads to more in the series. But please let one of these vampires find a woman that's strong and not a shelf item to be taken down and played with at the guys command. I find that a little insulting to women.Product details

Living with Vampires Vampire Guardians Book 4 edition by Jody Offen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I read this book a few months ago, but have come back to write the review I've been meaning to write. I will start with the negatives. I enjoyed the book, but it did tend to be all over the place at points and somewhat wordy, which slowed down a good portion of the action. What bothered me most was the capture & gang rape . . . . . and eventual rescue of Kylie. Soooo frustratingly dragged out. I mean the rescue. The lack of her dealing what happened to her and Acacia both. It was just glossed over and you end up with a slightly unbalanced character who has only half a relationship with her mate which sucked. I guess I took that personally being a victim of rape myself. I would have like to see her grow and recover as a person and not sleep with an arsenal. Not funny. I loved Kylie in the previous book, so strong, but still with the humanity. After her capture she became somewhat of a caricature of herself in order to not deal with what happened to her. I would have liked to have seen her and Hunter and Chase develop as a family as well. It seemed like Hunter was consistently treated like and outsider and that sucked. I mean two of those vampires were his sons for God's sake! Like everyone else, he had his issues and personal hell to go through, but unlike Dare, he was consistently punished for his actions which were significantly less offensive than Dare's in some cases. Finally, the bible tie in, really? I mean, really? A gospel for Vampire Guardian Assassins. Way, Way over the top.
The positives for this book stem from the past books in which all of the characters were well developed and fleshed out. I enjoyed those three books immensely and enjoyed the interaction of all of the characters. I wish Jenaver and Torin as well as Azrael had gotten their own books, but that is a small enough issue to not really factor into it. In "claimed By a Vampire", I loved that Dare finally got his love interest. My only issue in that whole book was that once Tiannia was healed she became completely immature and a little bit bratty through both of the last two books. I would have liked to see her make a decision on her own, become stronger and more independent. Being a submissive sexually shouldn't make her submissive in all areas of her life. Again, a relatively small thing.
On the whole I enjoyed the vampire reunion, but felt this book could've been significantly shorter by about 300 or 400 pages, and I do wish there were more character development. Consider writing a book with a mate for Azrael, he is Dare's brother after all. He deserves it and he's hot. What woman wouldn't want an angel with a little bit of the dirty and dominant in him. I know I would!
